Iglesias Comunidad de Amor, Internacional (Mission Honduras) was born in the city of Choluteca, Honduras in the year 2001.  The International Ministries of ABC, along with Dr.Héctor Newman teamed together to start an ABC – Honduras ministry.  With special funds from: Mission Explosion, Dr. Newman accepted the challenge and started what is known today as ICAI (Iglesias Comunidad de Amor, Internacional).  After a year, the funds started to dry out, so Dr. Newman, knocked on the door of ABC churches, sharing his vision for Honduras. He sent out an e-mail to many churches and pastors in MA. Only ONE person responded, Rev. Steve Youd, pastor of FBC of Hanson, MA. 

In the spring of 2003, Pastor Youd and 8 people from his church traveled to Honduras with the purpose of starting a partnership with Iglesias Comunidad de Amor.  This led a chain of churches and pastors from New England (mostly MA) to get involved in Mission Honduras.  Our organization has since been incorporated legally as a Christian entity with the Honduran Government.

 Today, the mission has expanded to 5 Departments (States) of Honduras. We have grown to 23 churches and have 3 regional supervisors in three different areas of the country.  The missionary team, is led by Dr. Hector Newman, and his wife Nubia, and is assisted by Enrique & Stacy Newman. Together they serve as the bridge between the United States and Honduras.  The Lord is blessing the ministry in a marvelous way. Every year many mission team groups come from the United States, to help build for the Lord’s Kingdom.

Honduras has much to offer, including: years of history, beautiful beaches, breathtaking views, unique culture, and valuable exports, so while experiencing what this nation has to offer we are bringing the one thing it needs most of all...Jesus Christ!  The Honduran people have been enthusiastic and welcome the efforts to bring the message of our Lord Jesus into their lives.  So as a result, the demand for more churches and Christian education has inevitably increased.  Like in many other ways, God has met His people's needs once again!  This is why we have been called to the nation of Honduras.
