In general, medical treatment in Honduras is significantly cheaper compared to the United States and other developed countries. However, the cost of medical treatment can vary depending on the level of care needed, the location of the hospital or clinic, and the availability of medical equipment and supplies. In urban areas such as Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula, private hospitals and clinics offer high-quality medical treatment, but the cost of care can still be relatively expensive. On the other hand, public hospitals and clinics offer more affordable healthcare services, but they may have limited resources and longer wait times. In rural areas, medical facilities and services may be more basic, and patients may need to travel to urban centers for more specialized care. It is important to note that medical insurance is not widely used in Honduras, and most medical expenses are paid out of pocket.
As a result, our ministry has set up free medical brigades in poverty stricken areas to provide assistance with common medical issues that can be treated.
